Deputy Registrars
The Deputy Registrars are appointed by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary in consultation with the Registrar High Court. At station level Deputy Registrars are responsible for administration and management of the Court, efficient financial and human resource management at the station, supervision and coordination of the registries.
In the administration & management of a High Court Station/Division and implementation of High Court activities, the Deputy Registrars who are deployed at every High Court station and Divisions support the Registrar.

Functions of the Deputy Registrar
Judicial functions
- Supervises and coordinates all registry functions which involve filing cases, court fees assessment, record management, customer service, preparing the cause list and ensuring statutory time lines are met.
- Ensures safe custody and service of various court documents.
- Enforces court decisions and ensures proper mechanisms are put in place to aid in execution of court orders including timely issuance of decrees.
- Formulates systems to ensure access to Judgments of the court.
- Researches on various legal issues that affect administration of justice.
Administrative functions
- Formulation of a strategic plan for various courts development and implementation of court expansion plans.
- Facilitates day to day administration and management of the court through monitoring and implementation of the Performance Management Measurement Understanding (PMMU).
- Identification of staffing needs of courts, staff deployments and Training Needs Analysis.
- Collation of Courts’ need for preparation of procurement plans, evaluation and inspection of procured items and disposal of obsolete items.
- Preparation of proposals and reports on administrative issues to enhance efficiency and improve performance.
- Identification of courts library needs and ensure access to library resources.
- Promotion of Linkage between the Judicial and administrative functions of the Judiciary.
- Taking of Court meetings minutes and ensuring safe custody of the minutes.
Financial functions
- Planning, preparation, implementation and monitoring of court budget.
- Identification of infrastructure needs of courts and consolidation of funding
