Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Registry
The registry has original jurisdiction on certain matters but also handles appeals from the anti-corruption cases presided over by special magistrates.
The ACECD hears petitions and judicial review applications on claims of infringement, civil suits involving recovery of assets acquired through proceeds of corruption and economic crimes and all proceedings which magistrates' anti-corruption court has no jurisdiction. In addition, it hears all criminal reviews, revisions, appeals, and any other applications arising from decisions of the special magistrates appointed under section 3 of the Anti-corruption and Economics Crimes Act 2003.
